Ingredients
  

  • salt and black pepper to taste
  • 1 (3 pound) whole chicken, giblets removed
  • ½ cup butter or margarine
  • 1 tablespoon onion powder, or to taste
  • 1 stalk celery, leaves removed

Instructions
 

  • Set the oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit.
  • Put the chicken in the roasting pan and to[ it from inside and outside with some onion powder, salt, and pepper, also put some butter in the chicken cavity. Cut celery and place it in the chicken cavity.
  • Bake the uncovered chicken in the preheated oven until it is no longer pink at the bone, for 1 hour and 15 minutes. A thermometer should be inserted into the thickest part of the bone and should have the reading of 165 degrees F).
  • Remove from the oven. Cover it with aluminum foil and allow to cool for about 30 minutes before serving.
