  • cup rice vinegar
  • 1 ½ cups water
  • ¼ cup lemon juice
  • 2 ½ tablespoons soy sauce
  • 2 tablespoons orange juice
  • 1 cup packed brown sugar
  • 2 tablespoons chopped green onion
  • 1 tablespoon grated orange zest
  • ½ teaspoon minced fresh ginger root
  • ½ teaspoon minced garlic
  • ¼ teaspoon red pepper flakes
  • 3 tablespoons cornstarch
  • 2 tablespoons water


  • 2 large boneless chicken breasts
  • ¼ teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • ¼ teaspoon pepper
  • 3 tablespoons olive oil


  • Firstly, assemble all the ingredients.
  • To make sauce, combine water, vinegar, lemon juice, soy sauce and orange juice in a saucepan. After that stir brown sugar, onion, orange zest, ginger, garlic, and pepper flakes, and bring it to a boil. Remove it from heat and let it cool for 10-15 minutes.
  • Meanwhile, place chicken in a plastic bag. Pour the prepared sauce. Refrigerate for 2 hours.
  • Moreover, mix salt, flour, and pepper in another plastic bag.
  • Remove chicken from the marinade and place into the bag of seasoned flour to coat the chicken.
  • Heat the olive oil in the large pan. In the pan cook chicken until it is browned from both sides.
  • Remove it to the paper towel and cover it with aluminum foil.
  • Pour reserved sauce in the pan and bring it on boil.
  • Mix together cornstarch water so that it gets smooth. Stir this in a boiling sauce
  • Reduce heat and add chicken. Stir occasionally, for 5 minutes.
