  • ½ cup cooking oil
  • 2 teaspoons salt
  • 2 pounds skinless, boneless chicken breast halves
  • 1 ½ cups chopped onion
  • 1 ½ teaspoons minced fresh ginger root
  • 1 tablespoon minced garlic
  • 1 teaspoon ground cumin
  • 1 teaspoon ground coriander
  • 1 tablespoon curry powder
  • 1 teaspoon ground turmeric
  • 1 tablespoon water
  • 1 teaspoon cayenne pepper
  • 1 (15 ounce) can crushed tomatoes
  • 1 tablespoon chopped fresh cilantro
  • ½ cup water
  • 1 cup plain yogurt
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon garam masala
  • 1 tablespoon fresh lemon juice
  • 1 tablespoon chopped fresh cilantro


  • Firstly, put all the ingredients in one place.
  • Then, sprinkle salt on the chicken breast.
  • In a frying pan, heat oil over the high heat. In the hot oil partially cook the chicken until it gets brown from all sides.
  • Slow the heat and add onion, garlic and ginger to the oil. Cook these ingredients until the onions get soft, for 8 minutes. Moreover, add curry powder, cumin, turmeric, coriander, cayenne and water to the onion mixture; and stir it for 1 minute.
  • Yogurt, chopped cilantro and salt is added to the mixture. Stir it until it is completely mixed together.
  • When the mixture is prepared add chicken to the pan. Add water and bring it to a boil; turn the chicken so that it is coated with the sauce. Once the chicken is coated, sprinkle garam masala and cilantro over the chicken.
  • Cover the frying pan until chicken breasts are no longer pink, for 20 minutes.
